Wearing can make jewellery, especially those with diamonds, dull. Skin oil, soap and body lotion cause jewellery to lose its shine. You can clean your jewellery yourself in warm water with a mild liquid detergent. You can gently brush your jewellery clean with a toothbrush. Then rinse your jewellery again with warm, running water. To dry your jewellery without lint, you can dab it with a soft, lint-free cloth.

To make your diamonds shine again, you can also soak them for half an hour in a solution of cold water and a drop of ammonia. Then gently brush the jewelry with a soft brush and let the diamond dry without rinsing.

If your jewel is very dirty, you can also have it cleaned ultrasonically - with sound waves - at Steltman jeweler. Come by our store for that.

Pearls are a natural product. That is why it is important to treat them with care. A pearl does not do well with soap, perfume and hairspray. So always take off pearls when you take a bath.

With a soft cloth you rub a pearl clean. But not too often, because skin oils make a pearl more beautiful! Moreover, the greasy layer ensures that the mother of pearl does not 'dry out'. So it is best to wear your pearls as often as possible!

If you store them in the same box or case as your other jewelry, there is a chance that they will get scratched. So make sure you store them separately.

Watches are craft products. They consist of hundreds of minuscule parts that come together with the greatest care and precision to form a technical wonder: the watch. To preserve your watch, it is important to treat it with care. We are happy to assist you with the maintenance and possible repair of your watch. In consultation with you, the sales employee, the watchmaker and the watch manufacturer in question, it is determined whether we treat the watch in our own workshop or whether we send the watch to the after-sales department of the factory.

Do's and Don'ts for your watch

• Do not change the date between 22:00 and 02:00. At that time, the date disk is mechanically in operation. If you disrupt that process by changing the date yourself, there is a great risk that parts will be damaged or even break off.
• do not wear a bracelet next to the watch.
• Do not swim with a water resistant watch.
• For repairs to the watch, only use authorized dealers.
• Avoid heavy shocks such as those caused by golf, tennis or wood chopping.

Regular check

To preserve your watch, it is important to treat it with care. We therefore recommend that you have your watch checked and maintained regularly. Our certified watchmakers will be happy to take care of this for you.

Annual check of your watch

An annual check of your watch at Steltman Watches includes the following: checking the functions of the watch, testing the water resistance of the watch case (waterproof testing), cleaning the watch case, cleaning the metal watch strap, checking the strap screws, checking the condition of the leather watch strap.

Complete service for your watch

We advise you to have every watch (with mechanical or quartz movement) completely serviced once every three to five years. A complete service of your watch is necessary because the oil with which the moving parts are lubricated ages over time and loses its lubricating effect. If you postpone the complete service of your watch for too long, the old oil can even cause wear and tear and make the repair more expensive, because more watch parts need to be replaced. Steltman Watches can provide the complete service for various brands in-house.

We naturally provide maintenance for the watch brands we carry. This can be done in the workshop of Steltman Watches or by the workshop of the brand in question.

When purchasing the watch, you will be extensively informed about the functioning, operation and maintenance of your watch. Steltman Watches extends the warranty period indicated by the brand by 1 additional year. The warranty provision concerns the movement, not the case, glass and/or strap. The manufacturer will indicate that the warranty concerns any manufacturing defects. Defects and/or damage caused by the wearer are not covered by these warranty provisions.

The sealing of a watch case is sensitive to external influences. For this reason, permanent water resistance cannot be guaranteed. A good tip: have your watch tested water-resistant or waterproof annually, preferably before the summer, as you may come into contact with water more often then.

A watch with the designation 3ATM is resistant to rain and splash water. A watch with the designation 5ATM is suitable for showering/swimming, provided there are no extreme temperature differences. Not suitable for diving or snorkeling in water. A watch with the designation 10ATM is suitable for most types of water sports, swimming, sailing and snorkeling. A watch with the designation 20ATM is suitable for all types of water sports and deep sea diving.

The different levels of water resistance

• Water resistant - 3Atm/ 30 meters - This watch is resistant to rain and splash water
• Water resistant - 5Atm/ 50 meters - This watch is suitable for showering or swimming, provided there are no major temperature differences. Not suitable for snorkeling or diving in water.
• Waterproof - 10Atm/100 meters - This watch is suitable for most types of water sports such as swimming, sailing, snorkeling in shallow water
• Waterproof - 20Atm/200 meters - This watch is suitable for all types of water sports and deep sea diving

Steltman Watches has an extensive collection of handmade leather straps. If you can't find the right strap, we will order the strap you want from our studio. You choose the type of leather, color, filling, length, etc.
